Algebra 2 is an extension of the concepts learned in an introductory algebra course. In this course, the three areas of emphasis will be algebraic methods, graphical and visual methods, and communication of reasonable answers through speaking and writing. This means that beyond simply solving problems, students will be expected to show their understanding in more than one way, while bringing them to the same or harmonious conclusion(s). By the end of this first trimester of the course, students will have an extensive knowledge of solving equations and inequalities (as well as their systems), building and graphing functions, visual representations of special functions and expressions, and different ways to organize data. This course involves a balance of precision (vocabulary and theorems), exploration, and discovery. Get ready to learn, because expectations will be high, homework will be assigned, and you WILL be challenged!
